Why are we doing this project?

MONCHING AWARDS:

To show our JCI Manila members our appreciation for the hard work, sacrifices, commitment, and achievements they have shared throughout the year.PRESIDENTIAL HOMECOMING:To honor and thank our past and present leaders whose guidance, support, and leadership have helped shape JCI Manila into the organization we enjoy and continue to build today.

What is our desired outcome?

To strengthen the culture of appreciation, recognition, and fellowship within JCI Manila bringing together our members, leaders, and mentors as one JCI Manila family.

NEEDS ANALYSIS

  • On the average, at least 3000 Filipinos of all ages die annually from drowning injury (0.43% of deaths for all age groups), more than a third (35.6%) affect children under 14 years (3.2% of deaths among children 0–14 years) source: Injury prevention journal
  • PH is visited on average by 20 typhoons a year and multiple monsoons which lead to unforeseen calamities and flooding, Manila as a city is also flood prone
  • Swimming classes/ first AID and CPR training are not done for free

PROJECT ANALYSIS

What went right?

  • Attendees were on time, food was ready
  • 2 to 1 ratio (coach to student)
  • Activities for parents and children while they wait (Red Cross + art activities)
  • Team dynamics - all members were assigned specific tasks and responsibilities
  • No accidents and no untoward incidents for the students
  • Regardless of timings, the beneficiaries enjoyed
  • Strengthened the camaraderie between the group

What went wrong?

  • 3 weeks to prepare an event (short leadtime)
  • Transportation was limited to jeepneys vs last had difficulty managing due to funds
  • Intended vans (limited funding)
  • Limited tables and chairs (unable to sit all joiners)
  • Overordered food
  • Lack of sponsors
  • No token of appreciation provided to attendees
  • Target beneficiaries of 300 was not met (185)
  • All partner schools wanted to have AM sessions (pool and area cannot fit more sessions for AM)

ACTIONS TAKEN

  • Before Project Implementation
  • Teamwork – All Members know their specific roles
  • A week before, the daily checklist with Dir. Bobbit and Comm. Dada
  • During Implementation
  • Coordination with our Sponsors and Beneficiaries
  • Smooth program outflow

  • Almost every two weeks we meet to make sure that the project closing will be smooth
